Special Area Classroom Management Plan and Grading Procedure 2025-2026
Greetings from the Special Area Teachers!
We will be seeing more students than ever this school year! (800+). Since we only see them about 15 times per quarter, we want to ensure that all students are learning and enjoying each of those classes. To meet that goal, here is the Classroom Management Plan and Grading Procedure for Music.
Classroom Expectations K-8th grade
· Enter in an Orderly Way
· Listen Attentively/Working Quietly
· Demonstrate Best Effort with Respect for Everyone
· Appropriate Use of Classroom Items
· Calm and Orderly Closure
These are expectations for the whole class and each class will be rewarded the points they have earned at the end of each period (one point for each expectation met).
Each class will try to earn a set amount of points (clip-ups) by the end of the quarter, thus receiving their quarterly class reward of a free choice day.
K-4: Whole Class; 5 points earned will receive a class clip-up, 4 points the clip will remain the same, and 3 or fewer points will receive a clip-down on their class charts.
Grading Procedure K - 4th grade (Individual Grades in Power School)
Participation Grade K-4
· 5 Points per class
· When an expectation is not met, a Verbal Redirection will be given.
· If the expectation is not met, a second redirection will be given, and points will be deducted from the participation grade.
If the expectation is still not met, Think Time will be given with additional loss of points deducted from the student's grade. After that, an MIR Form will be completed.
· Parents will be contacted when behavior consistently disrupts teaching and or learning.
· Points will be updated weekly and can be checked in Power School.
Project/Activity Grade
· Each teacher will assign points in Power School for individual projects/activities/quizzes and unit grades.
Grading Procedure 5-8th grade Electives (Individual Grades in Power School)
Classroom Expectations and Grading for Music Electives are outlined in the Band and Choir Handbooks that may be sent home during the first week of school with students. A copy of the Handbook can also be found under the quick links section of my website.
As always, please feel free to email us with any questions or concerns. We look forward to a great year full of experiences and learning!
