Screenings

Preschool Screening

The purposes of the preschool screening are:

*Identify preschool children eligible for special education services.

*Children must live within the boundaries of the Madison School District to be eligible.

*Preschool children must be 33 months to 5 years old but not kindergarten age to participate in a preschool screening.

Monthly Screenings

*Children will be assessed by a preschool team using a play-based screener. Children will be asked to name or point to pictures, build structures, draw, and perform fine and gross motor tasks.

*Parents/guardians will be asked to provide developmental information indicating their concerns about their child’s development.

*Upon completion of screening, families will be notified if further evaluation is recommended for special education consideration.

*If the child has a evaluation, parents are encouraged to bring copies of the evaluation reports/documentation.

* Screenings are provided without cost.
