During the Spring semester (~March), Dr. Chapin will visit choir classes at both Powell MS and Newton MS to audition students currently enrolled in choir. Any other incoming student should complete the audition form to schedule an audition during the audition window OR contact Dr. Chapin (cchapin@lps.k12.co.us) to schedule a time to audition.

Auditions are designed to mirror the audition process for the Colorado All State Chorus, ACDA Honor Choir Recordings, and most College Scholarship Auditions.
1. Perform, from memory, a prepared solo.
I. Incoming AWVM students may select a folk song from the repertoire below -OR- may sing one verse of a Patriotic song such as My Country 'Tis of Thee or America the Beautiful
2. Sightread a melody (required for consideration for an auditioned choir) - SAMPLE
I. You will be given your starting note, a suggested tempo, and 30-45 seconds to review the melody.
II. You may sing on solfege syllables or any nonsense syllable (de, la, etc.)
Vocal Music students are usually among the most involved and successful students at Arapahoe! Students who sing in a choir are also involved in:

Get to travel to places like CU-Boulder (annually), Oklahoma City (2018), Kansas City (2019), New York City (2019), Little Rock, AR (2020) and Europe (England & Ireland 2021) with their ensembles and their friends!
Earn scholarship money to KEEP singing in college!
