First Year (FY) Area Gryphons: will work the check-in stations or assist with moving personal belongings.
Upperclass (UC) Building Gryphons: will be assigned to problem-solving in buildings and/or moving personal belongings.
General Reminders:
Please wear appropriate clothing: Gryphon staff shirts, comfortable pants/shorts, sneakers, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
FY: Please relocate your car to the instructed parking area behind Iacocca (before 7:00am on both days).
UC: Please walk to your respective assignments as parking spaces will be scarce on the day of Move in .
If ever you feel uncomfortable or are unsure of an answer, please notify your AD-Res Life or a Housing Services staff member.
Stay hydrated!! There are water stations at each of the buildings. If you cannot locate it, please refer to these locations.

Moving Luggage and Personal Belongings:
Position Description:
When a car pulls up in the unloading area, these volunteers will begin assisting by carrying belongings to the appropriate room. All items should be labeled with the student's name and room number. Please ensure the items are placed inside the bedroom; we do not want anything to get lost.
Directions for the VOLUNTEERS on DAY OF Move in:
Walk to the respective residence hall and jump right in.
When a car pulls up in the unloading area, greet the families and kindly remind please kindly remind the driver they should remain with the car.
Please remind the driver to keep the color-coded card they were given at check-in on the dashboard of the vehicle. This card will have the building name circled and the room number written on it. It will help traffic people determine the owner of the car if left outside the building.
Begin assisting by carrying belongings to the appropriate room.
Once the vehicle is unloaded, be kind and remind the families that they should relocate their vehicle to one of the parking areas for parents. There are black arrows with a "P" that will direct them to the closest areas for parents.
Check-In Tables:
Tables (2) and chairs (4) are in building(s)/offices. Everything must be set up and ready to go at 8:00 a.m. sharp.
NOTE: you may have more people assigned to the tables than chairs- please utilize them as floaters/problem-solvers.

Step 1: The student arrives to the table; please ask for a photo ID. (If the student does not have a photo ID, you can pull their Lehigh ID Card from the box. If they do not have a Lehigh ID, please refer them to the IDEAL Office before going any further.
Highlight the student's name on the alphabetical building roster. The roster will have the student's room number.
Step 2: Locate the key envelope with the student's name/room number. The keys are in section/floor and room number order.
Check the key number(s) on the key against the label on the key envelope. As long as they match, issue the key(s). If they do not match, contact Housing Services (610) 758-3500. Do not authorize any room changes. If there are any concerns, please contact Housing Services.

Step 3: Pull the student's Lehigh ID Card from the welcome booklet.
Place the ID card into the First Year opening book and give to the student, explaining that their ID is used for building access, dining, dining dollars, GoldPlus, etc.
If there is not a Lehigh ID card, instruction student to go to the IDEAL Office by 3 PM that day to get an ID card.

Step 4: Handouts- make a packet for the student which includes: Room Condition Form (RCF) postcard, t-shirt, RHA goodie bag.
Only give handouts to a student if they have gotten a key at the first table. There is only enough for one per the first-year student. If they have checked in early- they will receive their items at a later date.
After-Hour Arrivals:
All keys will remain in Gryphon Offices in First-Year Buildings beginning Monday until Friday morning.
Make sure you have someone on-call as of 12 noon when check-in ends.
Make sure the Gryphon-On-Duty information is clearly posted throughout the buildings so a late arrival can contact the individual to receive temporary access to their room (exterior doors).
Follow the same procedures as the Check-In procedures above.
