Welcome to Tom Glenn High School, Home of the Grizzlies! The Counseling Office doors are always open to parents and students to help meet your needs. Some of the specific services offered by the department are below, but please never hesitate to come to us first if you have a question or need direction. We are here to support you any way we can.

  • College and career planning

We will meet with your students each year to focus on current goals to keep students on track for success.

  • Academic planning

Counselors will meet with each student individually in the Spring to plan for the next year.

  • Responsive services

Students in crisis can seek support through the Guidance Office and counselors will work with families to provide the appropriate resources based on individual cases.

  • Social/Emotional support

Whether it is a conflict with a friend or a death in the family, the counselors are here to support students and families as needed.

  • Providing resources

The answer may not always be at the school, but we can direct families and students to the resources that will meet their needs.

We encourage students to self-advocate prior to parent intervention. Parents can support their student in this by discussing what steps they should take to seek support for their needs. Please contact us with any questions that you may have.

Schedule Change Requests

The district deadline to request a schedule was Monday, August 6th at 4:00 pm. For more information please see page 14 of the course catalog.

The changes being made at this point are schedule corrections only and are listed below:

  • Senior not in a graduation required class
  • Student doesn't have the prereq for a course they are in
  • In a course they already have credit for
  • Data entry error (ie two first periods, in the wrong gender sport, etc.)
  • Student dismissed from a program and needs to replace those courses (ie dropping a sport)

If you fall into the corrections category, please email your counselor right away. Schedules will be available on TxConnect, Tuesday the 14th and students will receive a printed copy on the first day of school.

If you wish to take a PreAP or AP course instead of on level, please make sure you have done the summer assignment and email your counselor to request the change. To level down, students may request that change after the first progress report.

We are no longer accepting schedule change requests except for those listed above.

The deadline to request a change was Monday, August 6th at 4:00 pm.

Senior year is finally here! It's time to schedule your senior conference with your counselor. Click on the link below to choose your time. Make sure you sign up with the correct counselor! You'll need your parent's email address when you fill out the registration info. Although we are making students responsible for scheduling these conferences, we still hope to have your parents attend. Please consult with them to make sure they can be present at the time you schedule. If a parent cannot come, choose a time that works best for you. The deadline to register is September 11th.

You have the opportunity to apply for early release up to one period each day. You must meet certain requirements and fill out an application. Click here for further information and access to the application.
