In first grade, students are to master the Wonders Sight Word lists with 95% accuracy. For ease at practicing these sight words at home, we send home a fun "Build a Rainbow of Words" activity for each list of the the Wonders Sight Words. Each list is broken down into colored segments of the rainbow. Practice with your child one segment of the rainbow at a time. When your child can read a segment of the rainbow without prompts from you or sounding out each word, for example the purple segment, they may color that segment the appropriate color according to the rainbow. When your child has completed the sight word rainbow, they may bring it back to school to receive their "rainbow treat." They will be tested at school in addition to this for final scoring on the report card.
