This year-long course introduces students to modern digital communication tools and media creation. In the first semester, students will learn to organize and collaborate using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Sites), while also developing skills in digital design, audio production, and basic video editing. The class will work together to produce school morning announcements and other short media pieces, focusing on clear communication, visual design, and responsible use of digital resources. Responsible and ethical use of AI technologies will also be incorporated into this course.Â
For the second half of the year, we shift gears and learn Introduction to Video Game Design, where students will explore the art and science behind creating interactive digital games in this course. Using Unity, a professionalgrade game engine used across the gaming industry, students will learn to design, build, and publish their own playable games. Through hands-on projects, students will develop fundamental programming skills in C#, use digital art and sound tools to create their own assets, apply design thinking and problem-solving to prototype and refine ideas, and collaborate to create and test original games. No prior programming or Unity experience is required.
