7th Grade TERMS is a STEM course that introduces students to robotics, engineering, programming, and problem-solving through hands-on learning with LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robotics kits. Students will learn the fundamentals of robot construction and programming while working with the EV3 Intelligent Brick, servo motors, and a variety of sensors, including touch, light, and ultrasonic sensors.

Throughout the course, students will design, build, program, test, and modify a wide variety of robots to solve weekly engineering and programming challenges. Students will apply concepts of technology, engineering, mathematics, and science as they develop solutions that allow their robots to move, respond to their environment, and perform specific tasks.

Students will work collaboratively in pairs and small teams while developing communication, creativity, critical thinking, perseverance, and problem-solving skills. Responsible and appropriate use of technology is an important component of the course.

This course provides an excellent foundation for students interested in pursuing additional STEM opportunities and robotics competitions, including FIRST LEGO League and future participation with RoboVikes.
