 6th Grade Citations

For notes:

after taking a note, use a parenthetical citation.

Books need last name and page number

Encyclopedias without author need article title and page number

Websites need title and paragraph number

Example:  Sioux means enemy (Kane, p. 3)

                 Sioux means enemy ("Sioux," p. 3)

                 Sioux means enemy ("The Sioux," para. 5)

For Works Cited

Use OSLIS to complete your full citation. Copy the citations into a Google Doc.

5th Grade Citations 

For notes:

When you find a resource that has information you'd like to use, write down the information in your own words.

If you like the way it was in the book and want to copy it word-for-word, you have to use quotation marks.

On each citation card you make, you'll add a number. Match that number to each of your notes. This lets your teacher know which notes came from which resource.

For Works Cited

Fill out a citation card for each resource you use (not each note you take)!!
