AdvanPay-20 is an RFID high performance reader that integrates an antenna with a highly confined reading area.
This RFID point of sale reader provides a solution with the minimum cost. AdvanPay-20 is the most cost-effective model of the AdvanPay family.
AdvanPay-20 has an integrated system on chip (SoC) that allows a stand alone operation.
AdvanPay-20 is currently available as a desktop mount model.
AdvanPay-20 has a highly confined reading area, even with far field RFID tags. It can be configured to only reads the tags that are placed slightly above its surface, which avoids reading unwanted RFID tags.
AdvanPay-20 includes a single USB Type-C connector that allows a very easy and fast connection with point of sales applications.
With its embedded software, it can autonomously manage RFID reads, payments and returns through keyboard wedge or events over the serial protocol.
AdvanPay-20 can be easily managed from an external web app or native app to configure and persist any desired RFID logic or configuration. Both apps work over a serial protocol that can also be used to configure the device.
AdvanPay-20 can be used together with AdvanSafe, AdvanMat or AdvanGate to provide a complete loss prevention system fully based on RFID UHF.
AdvanPay-20 has full Gen2 and Gen2X protocol compatibility, allowing it to perform any required RFID operation.
AdvanPay-20 has an integrated buzzer and 2 LEDs for user feedback, allowing a simple use without any external screen.

Follow this diagram to power AdvanPay-20:
Similarly a Single Board Computer can be used in place of the Computer/Laptop
It is even possible to control AdvanPay-20 from a Microcontroller with uart and a minimum available RAM/ROM. In such case:
The USB data (Serial Over USB) must be converted to uart level.
The USB +5V must provide 5W to operate ADPY-20 to its designated power.
The AdvanPay-20 series products are updated using the USB Device Firmware Upgrade protocol.
Once the AdvanPay is powered up and connected to a computer, two serial ports is created on the host computer.
On Linux, they will appear as /dev/ttyACMx devices
On Windows, they will appear as COMxx virtual COM ports
On other platform the naming convention may change
Although very unusual, if the device does not appear as a serial port COM, install the drivers from the following link.
Once the AdvanPay is powered and the serial port is created in the host computer, it is time to send commands to the reader to start operation.
In case the host computer is a Windows machine, the recommended first step is to make sure the reader works by using the AdvanReader-20 Manager SW.
The AdvanReader-20 Manager User Guide shows how to operate AdvanPay-20 using an easy GUI interface.
If the tunnel mode is active, make sure that no process is using the serial COM port and use Universal Reader Assistant (URA) SW to connect to the RFID module directly.
Please read the User Guide for a quick guide on how to use the Universal Reader Assistant.
AdvanPay-20 RFID is managed by ThingMagic Jadak M7e RFID module series. The devices can be managed in multiple ways:
Through our propietary embedded firmware:
Connect to the Console Serial port.
Setup and configure the devices using the communication protocol described in the Integration Guide or using the AdvanReader-20 Manager SW (which is a Graphical User Interface wrapper around it) to control the device state depending on the use case.
We manage the low-level communication with the RFID module, and the AdvanPay-20 reports the RFID operations through HID and/or the Events virtual COM channel.
Through tunnel mode and ThingMagic Jadak SDK (Mercury API):
Set the device to tunnel mode (either one-time or as a persistent configuration).
Make sure the virtual port is not used by any other process.
Mercury API can be used straight away.
Designed for developers, the ThingMagic Mercury API is exceptionally versatile, written in Java, C and C#, and it supports the following application types:
Windows, Linux, and MacOS (C/C++, C#, Java)
.NET Framework, .NET Compact Framework, and .NET Core (C#)
Support for Android (Java)
Microcontrollers (C/C++)
With tones of examples that cover all features.

Keonn Technologies provides examples in the Integration Guide in the following programming languages: Python, C#, Java, TypeScript and Go.
The Mercury SDK has many more additional examples.
They include samples in: Java, C and C# (inside java/samples).
