About Me

I have been teaching Social Studies at A. L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, NC since 1997. I have a BA in History from UNC Charlotte and I am National Board Certified in AYA Social Studies. I currently primarily teach Honors and AP US History. I also serve as the Social Studies Department Chairperson.

My philosophy about teaching history is that I try to make the history come alive as much as possible. I enjoy using projects where the student have to create videos, skits, podcasts, etc. I think that if the students have to manipulate the material; it sticks with them.

I also incorporate as much technology as possible, thus using this website to create a paperless classroom.

My hope is that your child develops an appreciation of history and how it affects us today.
