Our 7th grade Health curriculum aims towards students attaining a better understanding of themselves, how their body works, and the changes they are experiencing at this stage of their lives. We also focus on establishing healthy relationships and understanding the importance of making good choices while keeping themselves accountable for their actions. It is very important that our 7th graders begin to establish a strong sense of self worth by beginning to really focus on their values as they navigate through this world. Students in 7th grade Health will have an opportunity to become CPR certified, receiving a Heartsaver CPR/AED certification card for adult, child, and infants at the completion of the unit.
The JSD Health 7 curriculum allows students to learn skills needed to make healthy choices. the knowledge students gain can result in positive changes in behavior that lower student risks around:
alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
injury prevention (CPR certification)
mental and emotional health
nutrition
physical activity
disease prevention
human sexuality
Health 7 is designed to allow students to build knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes about personal health. Learning about personal health motivates students to improve and maintain their health, prevent disease, and reduce risky behavior.
