Garden Committee

A green, clean and refreshing environment is the major endeavor in the college. The college has lush green lawns along with lots of trees and flowering plants both potted and spread in the gardens. The garden and lawns are well taken care by trained and appointed gardeners. One of the most important steps in this process provides appropriate fertilization services in all parts of our lawns. Ensuring that our lawns, trees and other plants are properly nourished and fed allows us to enjoy strong leaf, root, flower and vegetable growth.

The garden committee fulfillsthe requirements for development and maintenance of the green belt in the college. It takes care of regular needs like water pipes, sprinklers, operative machines for grass cutting, diesel manure, seeds, instruments like shovel etc.

We develop a tailor-made fertilizers and manures composition, designed to correct any nutritional deficiencies as well as meet our specific requirements. These fertilizers and manures typically provide plants with beneficial quantities of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, as all these nutrients are essential for strong plant development. But every lawn is different and there is no one size fits all solution for building a well fertilized environment. So according to health of each lawn, decisions are taken which are in the best interest of the health of lawns.

In summers gardeners mainly grow iconium, sadabahar, kochia, tipio, kakascoma, paracus at different levels according to the heights, so that the overall look of the plantation appears in distinct layers. In winter, we grow many species of roses, antirrhium, brachycome, dianthus, calendula, cineraria, dimorphotheca, geranium, gerbera, larkspur, nasturtium, nigella, petunia, gazania etc. Then Pansy pots, special foliage, ferns etc. are also maintained by gardeners.

Garden committee also takes care of the two kitchen gardens of the college. There has been abundant growth of beetroot, brinjal, cabbage, cauliflower, knol-knol, lettuce, onion, peas, tomato, broccoli, turnip etc. It also arranged for selling of the organic produce of the vegetable garden to the college staff in March 2019. All the staff members happily involved themselves in purchasing the organic vegetables.

Garden committee along with Eco club organized a plantation drive and planted around 60 saplings, mostly medicinal in August 2018.Our College also took part in Annual Flower Show-2019, organized by University of Delhi and won several prizes for the college. The list of the prizes is attached herewith.
