The coursework has three levels of courses:
Course 1(a): Research Methodology* (Credit requirement:4)
Lab Safety
Designing a Research Problem
Computer Applications & Informatics
Intellectual Property
Tools and techniques
Record Keeping, writing, and communication in science
Course 1(b): Research and Publication Ethics* (Credit requirement:2)
Philosophy and Ethics, Scientific Conduct, Publication Ethics, Publication Misconduct
This course will be taught through case studies.
*Course 1a and 1b are mandatory.
Course 2: Inter-disciplinary learning (Credit requirement:2)
There is 1 compulsory course (Chemistry for Biologists-1 credit) which is to form the basis of the interdisciplinarity of this module. The second course will be chosen by you from a choice of optional courses (1 credit) to meet the inter-disciplinary learning suited for you.
The optional courses on offer in this Course 2 are-
Option 1: Proteomics and metabolomics
Option 2: Protein structure and function
Course 3: Advanced course (Credit requirement:6)
Pick any 3 courses of 2 credit each on offer.
Option 1: Time and space in biological systems
Option 2: Programming for biologists
Option 3: Stem cells and regenerative medicine
Option 4: Genome Design Principles
Course 4: Societal Program: Problem Understanding and Analysis (Credit requirement:4)

Timelines:
Courses 1, 2 & 3 to be completed by Semester 1.
Course 4 to be completed before end of 3rd Year of the PhD program or before but in any case, before appearing for Open Colloquium, whichever is earlier.
