Happy Valley annually hosts the Crime Scene Investigation (C.S.I.) Competition, an event designed to engage high school teams from across the region in comprehensive investigative scenarios. Participants work collaboratively to examine simulated crime scenes, applying principles of evidence collection, analysis, and documentation.
The competition is adjudicated and supported by distinguished professionals in the field of criminal justice, including agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), and investigators representing the Carter County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the Elizabethton Police Department (EPD), and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP). In addition, instructors from the Walters State Police Academy and retired law enforcement personnel contribute their expertise as mentors and evaluators.
This event provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate and refine their knowledge and skills in a realistic, high-pressure environment. By processing crime scenes, collecting and analyzing evidence, preparing documentation, and producing comprehensive reports, participants develop both technical proficiency and effective teamwork capabilities.
