Nelson High School is an accessible school with 2 elevators, ramps and main doorways with push button automatic door openers. In the event of an emergency, staff are trained in emergency evacuation chairs to allow students in wheelchairs safe evacuation of the school.
Staff have been trained to use FM systems for students who are hard of hearing or hearing impaired.
Our school is also equipped with a Braille machine to assist students who are blind or low-vision, and we are able to order Braille or large-print transcriptions of course materials. All computers in the school are equipped with text to speech software.
Staff are always willing to learn, and are updating their skills on a yearly basis.
