Our goal for students with learning disabilities is to help students develop the skills they need to become independent learners who are ready for a post-secondary learning environment. We offer a number of supports and services designed to help move students towards this goal:
Room 113 is open at lunch and after school to provide support for school work.
GLE/GLS are available (if recommended by current teaching staff) to actively teach learning strategies.
Staff are available to provide accommodations as needed during every period of the day.
All staff are trained in text to speech and speech to text software, as well as graphic organizing software.
Learning Services staff are available to work with classroom teachers to help tailor programs to meet the needs of individual students.
Electronic and/or audio versions of texts are available (advance notice may be needed).
Support and advance training for EQAO testing (grade nine math, grade ten literacy) is available to all special education students.
Our computer corner is available for students to use for completing research, typing assignments or other assigned school work.
