HCHS Academic Information
On this page you will find the information regarding the high school registration, graduation requirements and classroom presentations.
This year's senior class (Class of 2024) is required to have 44 credits to graduate, 40 of these credits must be academic. Activity credits can be earned to acquire the needed 44.
Students in the class of 2025 and beyond are required to have 48 credits to graduate.

The following specific requirements shall be required for graduation from high school:
English/Language Arts: 8 credits
Mathematics: 6 credits
Science: 6 credits including 2 semesters of each Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry
Social Studies: 6 credits including 2 semesters of US History, at least 1 semester of World History, and 1 semester of US Government
Personal Finance: 1 credit
Elective credits: Each student must have 3 credits from at least 2 of the following areas: Agriculture, Business Education, Family and Consumer Science, Industrial Technology, Health Careers, Fine Arts or other approved vocational related electives.
Physical Education: 4 credits; Students will complete one semester of physical education each year he/she is in high school.
CPR: All students will complete a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, taught during the school day from an individual certified to teach the course. The Harlan Community High School will also accept certification from any nationally recognized courses in CPR as evidence that this requirement has been met by the student. This requirement may be waived if the student is not physically able to complete the course.
