Classroom Constitution
Our class has collaborated to create a list of expected behaviors for all students of room 23 to feel safe and successful. If a student is having a difficult time following the classroom constitution they will be directed to "take a break" and rejoin the group when they are ready. After taking a break, if the behavior has still not improved, this will result in a logical consequence.
Gold Tags
Students will earn gold tags throughout each day for making good choices, which may include: following directions, being kind to others, staying on task, taking care of their things, etc. Once students have accumulated 10 gold tags, they may exchange them for auction bucks, our currency for class auctions.
Marble Jar Rewards
In working to promote positive collaboration skills and interpersonal relationships, students will earn marbles as a class. The class will earn marbles for a variety of reasons, including on-task behavior, demonstrating positive character traits, and/or practicing the skills outlined in the HCSD Evolved Essential Outcomes (EEOs). When jars are filled the class will brainstorm and vote on a reasonable reward.
Class Auctions
Throughout the year students will work to earn auction bucks to be used as currency during the class auctions. We are planning on having 2 auctions over the course of this year. More information will be given as we get closer to the auction date.
Birthdays
To celebrate birthdays in Room 23, each birthday child is invited to choose a 15 minute activity to enjoy with their classmates. Our birthday celebrations will be non-food affairs. For students that have a birthday that falls during the summer months we will celebrate at the end of the year. If their birthday falls on a weekend or when we are on a break we will honor their day when school resumes. In order to keep our classroom an inclusive environment, please do not pass out birthday invitations at school unless the whole class is invited.
