Our district-adopted curriculum, Wonders is grounded in the science of reading, and includes writing, spelling, grammar, and reading as part of its core curriculum.
Third graders will read a variety of texts in the narrative, opinion, and informational genres, and practice applying the skills they learn through writing projects aligned with the reading focus for the unit.
We will also be studying the following novels as a class:
The World According to Humphrey by Betsy Birney
The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies
Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
In addition to our reading curriculum, we also spend time unpacking informational texts using books related to our science and social studies curriculum.
