Your child will share once a month beginning in January. A schedule with your child’s name will be sent home at the beginning of the month. Each child will be assigned to a date to give a short (1-2 min.) presentation related to our monthly theme. Each theme has a direct correlation to concepts introduced and discussed in class.
Work with your child to put significant thought into their sharing before they make their monthly presentation. This planning is considered a homework.
Sharing provides an opportunity for children to develop strong presentation skills. We are learning about the importance of using a clear speaking voice, standing still and using audience eye contact.
Children should come prepared to speak about the significance of their item and how it directly relates to the theme.
Here are the following themes for each month.
January: Share a special “family tradition”-bring in something that represents a part of your tradition.
February: Bring something that is “sentimental” and tell us why.
March: Bring something that is “lucky”
April: Tell us about your “family heritage”-bring in something that represents your family’s past.
May: Tell us what makes YOU “unique.”
