My name is Kristin Dobbs Menicou and I have been teaching in the Hillsborough City School District for the past 26 years. In addition to teaching TK, I've had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten-4th grades. I have also served the District in the capacity of a District literacy coach for teachers, reading support instructor, and Principal of our HCSD summer school program. I am passionate about what I do and driven to make a difference in the lives of children each day. It is an honor to be working with the students and families at South School.
I was lucky enough to be raised by a family of educators. Both of my parents had lifelong careers as teachers, a Principal and as a Superintendent. My parents met as teachers in Hillsborough in the late 60's and the rest is history. You can say that Hillsborough was in my blood from the start.
I did my undergraduate work at Chico State University and continued there to receive my CA Teaching Credential. While attending Chico, I had the amazing opportunity to finish my credential work while living and studying and student teaching abroad in Dublin, Ireland at St. Patrick's College. My desire to be a life long learner took me around the world while studying and taking college classes on Semester at Sea through the University of Pittsburg. After some years of teaching under my belt, I decided to go back to school at Notre Dame de Namur University to obtain my MA in School Administration.
I live in Millbrae with my husband and 3 daughters. We enjoy international travel and spend every other summer in Greece and Cyprus to visit with extended family. My husband and I are avid volleyball, softball and competitive cheerleading fans as we travel and cheer our daughters on whether on the court, in the field or nervously twitching as we watch our middle daughter flipping and flying high up in the air. All 3 of my daughters attend/ed South School, so it is very near and dear to my heart.
Thank you for your support and trust. I watch over my students as I do my own children. They are gifts.
Cheers to a wonderful year ahead.
