On Thursday, October 25th, the Writing Center hosted the "Applying to Graduate School Workshop" for students interested in applying to programs at both the M.A. and Ph.D. levels. Dr. John Gagnon, the Writing Center Director - who also serves on the Graduate Program Committee (GPC) as the C/R concentration coordinator - introduced an informative panel comprised of Dr. Glenn Man (GPC Chair and panel moderator), Dr. Anna Feuerstein (former member of the GPC and LSE concentration coordinator), Prof. Shawna Ryan (GPC member and CW concentration coordinator), Lauren Nishimura (GPC Ph.D. student member), and Amy Vegas (Ph.D student with interest in CSAP). The panel talked about best practices and strategic approaches to applying to graduate programs, and delivered guidance on constructing application packages, eliciting reference letters, and writing personal statements. We send best wishes to all of the attendees as they prepare their applications for graduate study.
