HOʻOMAIKAʻI to WC Consultants on Recent Accomplishments!

As we near the end of the semester, we wish to extend a big congratulations to recent accomplishes by WC Consultants!

Joel Llop was accepted to the BA+MA Program.

Emilie LaRock (Workshop Coordinator) was chosen as the Conference Director for the next Children's Literature Conference.

Johanna Leo Samman and Joel Llop showcased undergraduate work at the English Represents Colloquium.

Emilie LaRock, Azlynn Brandenburg, and Johanna Samman presented their panel, "The New 'Normal': The Importance of Virtual Writing Spaces" at the 2022 First Year Writing Symposium.

Kalilinoe Detwiler (Center/WebPR Coordinator), Kayla Watabu (Research Coordinator), and Aaron Kiʻilau (Assistant Director) presented their panel, "Ea and FYW: Re-locating the Writing 'Center'" at the 2022 First Year Writing Symposium.

Kayla Watabu and Kalilinoe Detwiler represented The Writing Center with Georganne Nordstrom (Previous WC Director) at the Brown Bag Biography presentation, "Indigenizing the Writing Center."

Tina Togafau (former WC Consultant) and Kalilinoe Detwiler have been selected as part of the Indigenous Nations Poets 2022 cohort of Fellows, and will attend the national poetry organization's Inaugural Retreat in Washington DC.

Kalilinoe Detwiler, Aaron Kiʻilau, and Tina Togafau put on the Words@Mānoa Creative Writing Conference 2022 as part of the Hawaiʻi Review Editorial Board, along with Leilani Portillo, Lynley Shimat, and Mahea Ahia.

Kalilinoe Detwiler speaks as part of the ACM Panel for LEAP (Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics) 40th Anniversary Celebration! Their panel, "Building the First Majority API Creative Media School" will air in June.

Hoʻomaikaʻi to all current and former consultants who are representing The Writing Center! Everyone has worked hard and are doing amazing things outside of the The Writing Center, so a big paʻipaʻi lima to all these accomplishments!
