The Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California introduced me to Rita (Kaia's Mom) who to the foundation was known as an amazing advocate in Northern California that had beautiful passion to raise youth awareness. We connected through social media and found out live within minutes from each other. Inspired by all of her work and commitment to raising Youth Epilepsy Awareness; I couldn't wait to meet her.
Without question, Kaia is an amazing, strong, inspiring, young lady. I get goosebumps every time I think about what she's done and how much strength she has, and that smile. That smile will melt your heart and brighten up even your worse days. So many things I can say about Kaia and the beautiful Davis family. You'll have to meet them yourselves. Check out some of the things we were blessed to experience together and find out how you can hang with the Davis family in Spring 2019!
Heritage Health Fair, 2018, Shasta Lake, California
A special visit from Kaia and her family at our booth at the annual Heritage Health Fair held in Shasta Lake, California in May. Although a small booth, we were loaded with tons of information, events, giveaways, and personal experiences to share with everyone that visited us that day.
I had an absent seizure that afternoon during the event. God was watching over me and knew Rita and Cody would recognize I was having a seizure. They quickly, quietly, and privately alerted my husband. Knowing what to do when someone is having a seizure can be extremely critical to our safety and well being. Thank you Davis Family.
#PurpleForKaia Ruckers Golf Tournament, 2018, Palo Cedro, California
The Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California North Coast & Cascade Region was invited to support #PurpleForKaia at the Golf Tournament hosted by Ruckers Innovation. This awareness event brought critical focus to the need for Youth Epilepsy Awareness in our communities and our schools. Support from different organizations across California came to hear Kaia's story and her mission.
It was an honor to be part of such a great event at a beautiful venue. Huge Kudos to the team that coordinated the event. A very impressive occasion. We hope to be invited to future events. Thank you so much for having us.
#PurpleForKaia - Seizure Dog Journey
Kaia is the first person I have met with an active seizure dog specifically for Epilepsy. It was amazing to be able to meet Kito at the Heritage Health Fair when they visited our booth to help raise awareness. It was a beautiful experience to have both Kaia and Kito provide personal experiences and insight to the importance of a seizure dog and how much help they can provide.
It was heartbreaking to learn of Kito's passing. My daughter and Kaia are really close in age, they "hit it off" the first day the met at the Heritage Health Fair. Jenalee wanted to come comfort Kaia, so we went to visit Kaia and her family. We were honored to be able to visit Kito's burial site and leave a little message.
In my personal experience, comfort is a huge part of recovering after a seizure episode. It was a blessing to be able to be part of Kaia's journey and help bring a smile to her face during this tough time. Everyone hurt for and with Kaia and her family.
Fast forward to today, beginning of December. Kaia has adopted a new seizure dog, who she named Max. He is the most adorable little guy ever and it is a thrill to see him in training. Follow PurpleFor Kaia on Facebook to stay close in their journey together.
You can help support Kaia and Max through their journey together in many ways. Kaia has a GoFundMe page that raises money specifically to help with Max's journey to becoming Kaia's Seizure Dog. Another way is to support through the purchase of 'Trigger Free' candles made by H&C Quality Goods. These Purple Candles smell amazing, the proceeds go directly to supporting Kaia's Seizure Dog journey. Like H&C Quality Goods page on Facebook and get in touch with all of their Candle and Quality Good releases. They have so many amazing smelling products you'll love!
Kaia's Birthday & Promotion Celebration
We were blessed to be invited to Kaia's birthday party and at the same time celebrating her 8th grade promotion. It was a perfect day for Kaia's beautiful smile. She's truly an amazing unicorn. From pushing through her seizure so that she can play softball with her team; which by the way raised huge awareness. The local news coverage on her journey is still racking up over 2,000 views on Facebook. Shortly after losing Keto, which came with stress, followed by seizure activities. On top of that she continues to volunteer her time and effort to raise Epilepsy Awareness in the Youth communities. She still pushes through and accomplish any kid's goal - to finish 8th grade and start High School. Congrats Young Lady! You are truly an inspiring Warrior!

Recognizing Our Heroes!
Showing appreciation and recognizing our Heroes is important. We work hard since the first day we start school to earn a certificate or an award. It acknowledges our hard work pays off. Through this program 'Recognition of A Hero' with the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California North Coast & Cascade Region; we take a moment to let our Heroes know how much their time and action means to us. The act of kindness and heroic effort they provide can and will save a life. Thank you to MB Creations for designing our signature "Take Control" Purple Ribbon. This ribbon represents our Heroes didn't hesitate to TAKE CONTROL and save a life. Thank you Heroes! One of the goals of Project Seizure Free is to bring into the regions, the resources and support available closer to our communities. In order to accomplish this, we have to identify key individuals that can make the impact each region may uniquely need. This helps to bring specific focus to the necessities of each region.
Rita has demonstrated through her journey in supporting and fighting for Kaia; her clear and specific goal to raising Youth Epilepsy Awareness. It is clear the steps and measures she will take to succeed in her critical mission.
We have already honored two Youth Heroes, and will be honoring more, because of the heroic action they took to make sure Kaia was safe when she suffered from a violent seizure in class. These are High School students who at the time Kaia needed them most, remembered what Rita taught them and was able to come to Kaia's help. These students prevented Kaia from violent impact to her head during her convulsing on the Science Lab floor.
Through Rita's Youth Awareness educations, 1 on 1 Focused conversations, Correspondence to Districts and Community representatives, etc; she has increased the need for Youth Epilepsy Awareness and Support. We were honored she accepted to be part of our team as the Youth Awareness Advisory Board. For any questions related to Youth Epilepsy Awareness, please feel free to contact Rita Davis at PurpleforKaia@gmail.com. Connect with Rita on Facebook.

Okay, listen up folks. You hear me often rant about Epilepsy Awareness event but this one I need you to really pay attention and Share! If you noticed, I saved this 'Thought' for last on the #PurpleForKaia page. For multiple reasons but I'm going to share one thought as to why. I wanted to demonstrate, based on the occasions that we (The Gould family) got to experience with Kaia and her family, how much this family has put into the community and into the support of their daughter. If any of you may be impacted by the simple challenges in life that comes along with living with a chronic illness, health condition/challenges, etc; then you are aware of the "work" that come along with it. The Davis family, despite ALL they have to push through, they fight for their community, their family & friends whole-heartedly, faithfully; and with a smile on their faces.
Like me, I hope you fall in love with the Davis family. If I was a billionaire, I'd start a PurpleForKaia Foundation and implement student programs and education tuition to support the Youths through their journey. Just like Kaia's Journey.
I've been diagnosed with Epilepsy for almost 14 years now; and I can't imagine growing up as a teen with Epilepsy. I struggled to tell my at the time boyfriend, I have Epilepsy, and at that time I was 24. Kaia isn't only learning about her condition, she's also learning about growing up, learning about life. The things we can do to help our Youth's future, is one of the many purposes we have on this world.
This event is focused on YOUTH AWARENESS! This is Kaia's 1st Annual City Community Event and we need to show her, a leader in our kid's future, the support they have behind them! REGISTER FOR FREE TODAY! and I will see you there!
Sometimes after reading my thoughts you have the desire to do some shopping. Here are some thoughts that came to mind after publishing my thoughts on #PurpleforKaia.
