Personal Therapy

Therapy  – for depression, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, trauma, abuse, eating problems.  You may have a specific issue you feel ‘stuck’ with, or just a general sense of unhappiness or un-ease.

Therapy is a space for you, with a trained and experienced professional, to explore what is troubling you and to help you feel less ‘stuck’. It is not about telling you what to do; it is about helping you find your answers, whatever they may be. Therapy can be a useful life tool, that can help us to make better sense of our lives and ourselves, to enable us to live as well as we can.

I use a variety of approaches in my counselling/psychotherapy work, including EMDR, some CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) techniques, mindfulness, psychodynamic and existential theories. What this means is that I will adapt my approach to what best works for you, which may be an exploration of your childhood and the factors that shaped who you are today, or it may be looking at your thoughts and feelings that arise in current situations.

I have over sixteen years experience of offering therapy and I have worked in a wide range of counselling services; both brief services and long term work.

We will usually agree a set time to meet on a weekly basis for up to six weeks (though you can review this at any point). Weekly sessions are charged at £50 each (EMDR sessions are £65).  Face to face sessions are in Stewkley LU7 0HR, or otherwise online (on zoom, skype or whatsapp video).

It is a good idea to contact your GP if you are having distressing thoughts about harming yourself.
