I am a BACP accredited counsellor with over ten years experience, qualified to run the 8 week Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy course (and I am on the UK Teachers Listing which means that I meet all Mindfulness Teacher Good Practice Guidelines). I have also completed the Mindfulness in Schools Paws B training, which means I can run the course for 7 to 11 year old school children. I have an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling, which means I use a wide base of therapeutic approaches, and I am currently completing an EMDR (Eye Movement De-sensitization and Reprocessing) training.

I offer Mindfulness courses and individual counselling sessions in Stewkley, which is just 5 miles from Leighton Buzzard, and about ten miles from Aylesbury and Milton Keynes. I also see clients on a one-to-one basis for mindfulness and I work in organisations too. You can commission me to run a mindfulness course at your premises, or organisation. In addition I work at an adoption agency one day per week running the 8 week mindfulness course with adoptive parents.

As a mindfulness practitioner, I am able to work in organisational settings, in schools and in the field of adoption. I enjoy variety in my work and at the core the principles of mindfulness are transferable across all of these areas and I have experience of them all. Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked in large organisations in a  variety of demanding analytical roles, and I completed an MBA at Imperial College in the 1990's, following an Engineering degree in the 1980's.

As a counsellor I have a broad range of experience, working with clients experiencing stress, relationship problems, trauma, anxiety and depression, abuse, disordered eating, bereavement and work related issues. I have also worked with young people. It could be that you simply want a space to explore what is going on for you, without maybe a specific thing to focus on: just feeling unhappy and dis-satisfied with life. You may simply want to see an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist, or you may be interested in the fact that I can bring mindfulness into the work too. Either way, my approach is to adapt to what is most useful for you, in either short term or longer term work.

Why Learn About Mindfulness?
... to help with managing stress, depression, anxiety, over-eating, better relationships, calmer parenting

  • Mindfulness practice can generate a healthier way of handling stress, to respond adaptively rather than automatically. Instead of helplessness or the fight-flight reaction to stress, moment to moment awareness allows control and influence to still be possible, even in stressful situations.
  • Mindfulness is a form of mental training that can enable an individual to live a more grounded, balanced and therefore happier life.
  • Mindfulness is being present in the moment, with mind and body connected. It sounds so simple, but it can have far-reaching consequences, and often mind and body are so disconnected in the busy lives we lead.

One-to-one mindfulness training, sessions to suit your personal preferences.
This will involve leading you in meditations, helping you to master the art of meditating in the very simple way we do in mindfulness, and developing a regular practice to experience the benefits of mindfulness. £50 per 1.5 hour session.
