Year 5

Since coming back in September, Year 5 have enjoyed reading, The Nightmare Man. The pupils wrote their own version of the story, using Alan Peat sentence structures and we have had some fantastic first drafts - some better than the story itself!

Our topic this term is ‘Coasts’ and Year 5 have enjoyed using google maps and the atlases to find and plot coastal locations on a U.K map. The children have also created a fact file during ICT time of coastal towns and their attractions in PowerPoint to present to the class when they're done.

This week in our English session we have started researching information on dragons. Next week Year 5 are going to start creating a descriptive picture of dragons using adjectives and adverb starters in their writing.

This term in Maths we will cover place value, columns addition and subtraction and are now ready to move onto multiplying and dividing numbers.

Year 6

Every half term in literacy , the children learn how to write fiction and non fiction in a range of different ways, including;

stories, poems, reports, persuasive arguments and letters - to name but a few.

In numeracy , we will be learning about place value and the four operations of number , before moving on to develop our shape and space skills .

Our overall topic this term is ‘Coasts.’

We are locating coasts, studying the geographical features of them and learning about environmental issues at the coast.

In addition to this, we have art, ICT, PE and welsh every week.

We are very busy, but enjoying settling back into everyday school life !

Look out for us on Facebook where our teachers will be posting some of our achievements ! 🤩
