My time studying with NUU in Miaoli was a really wonderful experience. Every teacher that I had during my time there had a unique approach to teaching Chinese, and yet what they all shared enthusiasm and great encouragement. I tried a few classes and universities around Taiwan before I found NUU. What made me so happy with NUU was the friendly environment and that it was so accommodating to different learning styles. The lessons felt tailored to the students. For me, it broke away from a wrote-learning style of teaching and focused more on conversation. I learnt so much, and at a faster pace without feeling stressed. I really recommend NUU to anyone interested in learning Chinese in Taiwan. I finished all six textbooks, passed my TOCFL exam, and made a lot of great friends along the way! Thank you so much to all of my teachers, and especially to Ann at the office, who was very supportive, friendly, and planned many fun days out for us each semester! I will always look back so happily on my time there :)

Kalimat pertama yang terlintas dipikiran saya adalah kehidupan di Taiwan sangat menyenangkan. Begitu banyak kemudahan dalam menjalani keseharian disini, salah satunya kendaraan umum, sangat mudah.

Banyak hal yang saya pelajari selama di Taiwan, terlebih lagi adalah kemampuan berbahasa Mandarin saya. Selama saya belajar di Pusat Bahasa Mandarin, mulai dari bertemu dengan guru yang sangat aktif, saya juga bertemu dengan teman baru, yang bisa saja jadikan teman baik untuk saling berbagi kisah, dan paling penting adalah teman untuk mengasah kemampuan berbicara Bahasa Mandarin dan saya terbiasa disini karena terasa seperti di rumah.

Saya sangat senang saat ngobrol dengan teman-teman di Pusat Bahasa Mandarin, karena saat ngobrol itulah saat saya menambah pengetahuan. Sejak awal hingga saat ini, saya tidak menyesal sama sekali, karena telah memilih belajar di tempat saya belajar Bahasa Mandarin saat ini. Bersyukur dan berterimakasih kepada kalian yang telah membuat saya tidak menyesal dan telah menjadi teman saya selama ini, saya sayang kalian.

Saya hampir lupa, di Taiwan juga ada banyak makanan makanan enak dan murah. Selain makanan, di Taiwan juga banyak tempat wisata yang menyenangkan, meskipun saya belum mengunjungi semua tempat, tapi saya berharap, saya mempunyai kesempatan untuk mengunjungi semua tempat menyenangkan dan bersenang-senang di Taiwan.

Chào mọi người, mình là Hiên. Hiện tại là sinh viên của trường NUU. Năm 2019 mình lần đầu đặt chân đến Đảo Ngọc theo diện du học ngôn ngữ. Mình chọn trung tâm ngôn ngữ của trường Đại học Quốc lập Liên Hợp làm điểm học tập phát triển. Lần đầu tiên vào lớp với vốn ngôn ngữ không phải tốt, mình thật sự rất lo lắng. Nhưng nhờ sự hướng dẫn và giúp đỡ của giáo viên, mình càng tự tin hơn trong việc giao tiếp với mọi người. Ngoài việc học tập trên lớp, giáo viên còn giới thiệu cho mình làm quen thực tế với môi trường sống và làm quen với văn hóa truyền thống Đài Loan bằng những chuyến hoạt động ngoại khóa. Sau một thời gian học tập, giáo viên tạo điều kiện giúp đỡ cho mình để tham gia kỳ thi năng lực Hoa ngữ. Sau đó mình đã đạt được TOCFL 3. Thật sự giáo viên của trường rất tốt và thân thiện với học sinh.

Trong 2 năm học tập ở đây, mình đã quen biết được các anh chị của hệ Đại học, chúng mình thường cùng nhau chơi thể thao vào những lúc rảnh rổi, cùng nhau tham gia những hoạt động liên quan đến giới thiệu truyền thống văn hóa của các nước.

Trải qua 2 năm này, mình học được rất nhiều thứ, từ việc nâng cao trình độ ngôn ngữ của bản thân cũng như việc giao tiếp với người bản xứ.

Hiện tại mình đã trở thành sinh viên Đại học của trường. Cùng một địa điểm nhưng là môi trường học tập khác, một trình độ khác. Giáo viên cũng thay đổi nhưng sự thân thiện với học sinh không hề thay đổi.

Thật sự chân thành cảm ơn những người bạn cùng lớp, những đàn anh đàn chị và thầy cô giáo đã giúp đỡ mình trong thời gian qua.

Hy vọng trong tương lai chúng ta sẽ gặp nhau tại NUU!

I am an English educated retiree from Malaysia and it has been my fervent wish to learn the Chinese Language after my retirement. “活到老，學到老” certainly hold true for me. When the opportunity to study in Taiwan arose, I had already in mind where I wanted to study. For me, a not too cosmopolitan city steeped in local culture, a place with mountain and sea and a little sheltered from the vagaries of mother nature and here I am, studying at the Chinese Language Centre, National United University in Miaoli County.

My first two months here have been simply beyond my expectations. A serene study environment, dedicated and helpful administrative as well as teaching staff and lessons interspersed with understanding of local cultures and traditions have made my trip here even more meaningful under the current raging Covid-19 pandemic. “學如登山”remains an inspiration for my Chinese study.
