This page presents the safety considerations for operating a miter saw, tips for how to effectively operate a miter saw, and the safety quiz (and answers) for the miter saw.
The Titan Woodshop has two miter saws - 12" miter saws. The miter saw is ONLY used for cross-cuts (cuts going across the grain). The miter saw is also used to make miter cuts. Miter cuts are any angled cut on a piece of wood (such as a cut on a 15 degree angle or a cut on a 45 degree angle) - the miter saw is named for the fact that it makes very quick and easy miter cuts. You must always maintain a safety zone of 6" on both sides of the blade, hold the stock securely against the fence, and lower the saw blade slowly to have a smooth, square cut and avoid choking the blade. Here are pictures of the miter saws in the Titan Woodshop.
