This page presents the safety considerations for operating the jointer, tips for how to effectively operate a jointer, and the safety quiz (and answers) for the jointer.
The Titan Woodshop has one 12" jointer. This means the cutterhead is 12" long. The jointer is primarily used to clean up the edge grain of a piece of wood, making it straight, smooth, and square ("the three S's"). The jointer is used prior to using the rip cut table saw to make sure you have a straight and true edge to ride against the rip fence. The jointer is also used prior to gluing two or more boards together edge-to-edge. Please use push sticks when jointing wood less than 5" wide - this helps maintain a 6" safety zone away from the cutterhead when operating the machine.
