Get Connected!
The Clubs and Activities Program offered at Gideon Welles School is an essential program in meeting the needs of the adolescent learner. Students need to be given opportunities and outlets to:
explore a variety of interests,
develop appropriate social skills,
foster appropriate peer interactions,
enhance their confidence as learners and community members,
develop strong study habits, and
develop essential relationships with adults and teachers.
These experiences provide the foundation upon which future success in school and membership in a community is built.
Gideon Welles offers school clubs and activities such as Homework Help. The clubs represented provide all students with opportunities to become a part of the school community as they grow as both students and people.
Our teaching staff spends many hours promoting these programs within student body and develops lasting rapport that positively impacts students and families.
The Clubs and Activities Program at Gideon Welles School promotes high student achievement through curriculum integration and develops relationships that enhance comprehensive meaningful exchanges between students, parents and teachers.
After School Activity Guidelines
Appropriate behavior is a requirement for all activities. Students who do not meet this requirement will not be able to participate in the activities.
Students should get permission from their parents prior to coming to school on the days they plan to participate; they may not call from school to get permission to stay for After School Activities. It is not necessary to bring a note from home to stay for After School Activities.
If there is insufficient participation in any activity, it will be cancelled. If the leader is unable to meet with the group on a given day, the activity will be cancelled for the day. There may be occasions when the cancellation announcement will not be made prior to the day of the activity.
Transportation
Sixth grade participants may ride the activity bus home. Fifth grade participants are strongly encouraged to review the activity bus guidelines with their parents/guardians prior to riding the activity bus. This bus leaves Gideon Welles at 3:55 pm and goes to the high school where the students board another bus that drops students at a district stop.
The activity bus routes are on the last page of the Activities Booklet and can also be found on the Transporation website. Students should determine which activity bus is the appropriate one for them to take before they stay for an activity.
