We are excited to welcome our new fifth-grade students from Hopewell Elementary and Buttonball Lane School for the 2025-2026 school year! Our faculty and staff are eager to support these students as they continue their academic journey while proudly maintaining their Hopewell Husky and Buttonball HERO pride.
At Gideon Welles School, fifth graders will follow a traditional elementary school model with one classroom teacher. Many fifth-grade teachers have transferred from their respective elementary schools, ensuring students will see familiar faces as they transition to their new environment. We are excited for a fantastic year ahead!
Our sixth-grade program is designed to provide an academically rigorous experience while supporting students and their families as they transition to secondary education.
Sixth-grade students are divided into four teams and follow a structured schedule that includes english, math, science, social studies, and a foreign language — all within their assigned team. In addition, students participate in technology, art, music, and physical education.
Our teachers focus on building independence, organization, and goal-setting skills to prepare students for the middle school experience. Through engaging lessons and thoughtful guidance, our faculty strives to make learning exciting and meaningful every day.
We are committed to supporting students' social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Key programs that enhance the student experience include:
Student Support Center: Providing support to students as they navigate through the adjustment of friendships, grading, multiple teachers, etc.
Exploring the Arts: A dynamic weekly program where professional artists share their talents, fostering creativity and cultural appreciation.
Schoolwide Leadership and Character Development Theme: Promoting consistent language and values throughout our school community to build strong character and leadership skills.
We believe that strong communication with families is essential for student success. Parents receive regular updates on their child’s progress during the year. Each student is assigned a homeroom teacher who serves as a key point of contact for families, ensuring strong connections between home and school.
At Gideon Welles School, we are dedicated to creating a supportive and caring environment where students feel empowered to learn, grow, and develop the skills they need to become tomorrow’s leaders.
