A parent or guardian may give a student a written excuse for up to 3 days. Notes should include: student's name, date(s) to be excused, reason for the excuse, parent/guardian signature and phone number. If a student needs to be excused for more than three days a doctor's note is required. Student with special medical conditions should give their teacher a doctor's not outlining any modification that are needed in their daily physical activities. Students that bring a note for PE will still be required to dress out and their activities will be modified according to the note. Excessive use of parent notes will require make-up work for missed class assignments. Any forged note in PE will result in an F for the day and an hour detention after school.
Absent report articles can be found online at: https://sites.google.com/a/ggusd.net/bell-intermediate-pe/absent-reports. They are also posted in your PE Google Classroom. If you do not have Internet access please see your teacher. Read one of the articles. Print out the Absent Report form. Answer the questions. Turn in 1 Report for each day of absence. Be sure your name, period and the title of the article are on the report. You do not need to print out the article. Students may also choose to email the assignment in lieu of printing out a physical copy.
UNIFORMS
Students are required to wear the proper uniform. Their last name will be printed legibly in black permanent marker, by their teachers only, on the front of their shirt. NON-SUITS ARE UNACCEPTABLE. Students may wear plain gray sweats (no writing or logos) on cold weather days. A gray sweatshirt with the Bell PE logo is available for $16.00. No alterations or modifications of uniforms will be tolerated, i.e., torn, bleached and any writing other than the student’s name. Socks and proper footwear are strongly encouraged. Students are not to wear school clothes under their PE clothes.
LOCKER ROOM
Students are responsible for their own PE materials. Students will be assigned an area to change and keep their belongings. Items must be in a bag to be left at school. Drawstring bags can be purchased for $5.

Students will run 6 miles and are graded on their best 4. Students can make up miles on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.
Every student will be given a complimentary two-year PE notebook. Students will be required to complete various assignments that pertain to current activities and the physical education standards in their notebook. This will include both in class and homework assignments. Students who destroy or lose their notebooks will be charged $5.00 to replace it. The notebook will be graded on the accuracy of information and completion. Students will be required to keep data in their agendas as well as their notebooks.
We appreciate parent involvement in, and support of, our program. It is very important that students at an early age learn the need for and value of being physically fit. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact us at the school. The school number is (714) 663-6466.
