Ingredients:
- 1/4 kilo pork, sliced into small cubes / strips
- 2-3 cloves of garlic, diced
- 1 red onion, chopped
- patis (fish sauce)
- 1 cup green munggo beans
- 1/2 cup yellow munggo beans
- 1 tablespoon hibe (small shrimp)
- 1 chicken or pork bouillon cube
- sitao (string beans), chopped into 2-3 inch segments
- kang kong or dahon ng sili or alugbati leaves or malunggay leaves
- water
- salt
- pepper
- cooking oil
Instructions:
- Pre-soak the beans in about 2 cups of water for at least an hour. Keep them immersed in water as much as possible.
- Saute the garlic and onions in a pot until onions are translucent an garlic is fragrant
- Add in the pork and brown the meat
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of patis and saute for another 5 minutes.
- Add in 6-8 cups of water, the munggo beans, the bouillon and the hibe
- Bring the soup to a boil then allow it to simmer for 20-30 minutes or until beans are of desired consistency
- Season according to taste
- Add in the sitao and allow it to cook for another 5 minutes.
- Add in the leaves of your choice (I'm pretty liberal) and allow it to cook for another 2-3 minutes.
