Retake students

In order to retake an examination, you must either be a current student of the school and in Year 9 or above, or, be an ex-GIS student.

Every application will be treated on a case by case basis and the school reserves the right to refuse a student's application if it is felt that taking the examination would be detrimental to the student's current education program.  

Re-takes entries should be discussed with an appropriate teacher and agreed before completion of the online form below.

If there is a Practical/Oral component to the examination then permission from a member of GIS staff that teaches the subject must be sort to conduct the examination, again before completion of the online form. The students should indicate on the online entry form which member of staff has agreed to undertake the examination. Should there not be a suitably qualified member of staff available for the subject required then entry to this examination will not be allowed.

Please consider your requirements for a re-take before submitting the form below.  Once a re-take request has been sent to the relevant Exam Board it cannot be amended.

FEES

Current GIS students will be billed along with school fees for all Retake exams at the start of Term 2 for November exams and the start of Term 3 for May/June exams. The applicable fees are shown on the Fees tab. By completing the online form below candidates are agreeing to pay those fees.

School leavers will be invoiced by the GIS Finance Team.  Fees should be paid promptly, preferably before the examinations take place.  If fees are not paid certificates will not be issued.  Please see the How to Make Payment section of this website.

Entry Procedure

1. Speak with the relevant members of GIS staff.

2. Complete and submit the online entry form accessed by clicking on the big red button at the bottom of this page (provide the name of the teacher giving approval).

3. You will receive an email within a couple of weeks of submitting your request which either includes the Statement of Entry or advises the Statement of Entry is ready for collection. Please check this document carefully. If you discover an error please email exams@gardenschool.edu.my highlighting the problem. Please note that any amendments made to an entry after the deadlines shown on our Key Dates page will incur charges. Current GIS students will check their retake entry along with other examination entries taken in the same examination session. 

4. Please check the GIS examination timetable from the website when it becomes available for the dates and times of your exams. If you are still a student of GIS and are taking other examinations at the same time as your retake, you will receive the examination timetable and candidate briefing via your Form Tutor. Make sure you know exactly the day and start time for your examinations (arrive no later than 20 minutes prior to the start time of an examination). It is your responsibility to arrive on the right day at the right time.  Check the seating plan prior to the examination in order to minimize disruption at the start of the examination.  Ensure that you read the Candidate Briefing information prior to sitting your exam by selecting the appropriate tab above.
