Action at QUEST

QUEST Students Take Meaningful Action!

The most important way of showing understanding in a PYP student's learning is by taking action. When a student takes action, he/she applies new learning, extends the learning and makes a change. This change can be big or small!

Here are some examples of past action:

  • Some students created a school-wide day of wearing blue for Autism Awareness

  • One child created a pocket poster to distribute to older family members with Stroke Prevention tips

  • A team of kids invited in the Missing and Exploited Children Organization to fingerprint 5 to 8-year-olds at QUEST to spread Child Abduction Awareness

  • One 8-year-old student held a competition a tour school to see which hallway could donate the most nonperishable food items to fight hunger

  • Students built bird houses for a staff member's farm to support wildlife habitats

  • Kindergartners made and sold ornaments and Valentine cards to raise money for the Heiffer Project to send other children in the world to school

  • One primary student created a Culture Day at QUEST in order for students to learn more about how other children live, work, play, eat, sleep, learn, etc. in other countries around the world. Click here to watch a video!

  • Intermediate students clean up Salmon Creek that runs behind the school and have presented findings of chemical levels to the town board

  • Elementary students invited in ancestors to share their indigenous culture with the class

  • Primary students challenged their families to buy and eat healthier meals and snacks

  • Kindergartners planted flowers, herbs, and gardens and keep the plants alive

  • Intermediate students organize staff events (kickball games, dance flash mobs, etc.) to increase levels of physical activity to improve teachers' health

  • Students bring in artifacts or current event articles from home to share with their class that support or represents their new learning

  • QUEST holds a "Joy Shop" each December where students and families make handmade items to be sold for $1-$5. 100% of the donations go toward supporting families in need in in the Hilton Area, the Rochester Area, and in the greater world community.
