Cluster 1- Whole Number Operations, Algebraic Reasoning and Data

NOTE: It is imperative that your child know the multiplication facts to 12 x 12!

Our goal in math this year is to be Persistent Problem Solvers! Persistent means that we keep trying even when things are difficult! Problem Solving can be difficult at times, but with persistence YOU will be able to do hard things! When things get tough and our brain has to work we are learning! The 5th grade math teachers will be teaching in a Workshop Model. This means that the teacher introduces the topic to the whole class, then the class may practice that skill with their group or math partner. After the mini-lesson students are sent to stations to practice the skills that we are learning. Stations consist of Math games, problem solving, and

independent practice.
