It has been proven that retention of knowledge increases when material is gone over repeatedly. Thus the formative portion of the course is there to help you retain the vital knowledge you will require for the exams. Although this is not a weighted portion of the course, if you do not complete these tasks, you will only hurt yourself in the long run. Assignments will be given most every day, and quizzes at once per week. Do NOT miss them.
Labs are a key teaching tool, and the most engaging part of the course. It is key to come prepared with proper footwear and clothing. Lab reports will need to be handed in by the due date or they will not be accepted.
There will be a total of four unit exams given as well as a final exam. These create the bulk of your mark in the course. It is not advisable to miss them, or schedule vacations during exam prep time. It is up to the instructor’s discretion to give a “make up” exam. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
To ensure a successful completion of this course, students are expected to be on time and prepared for class every day. Failure to do this could have negative effects on marks as material is covered from the moment class starts to the very end. I will not chase you down and give you material you missed. You will need to be mature and come to class every day, on time.
