CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The TEKSCon Program Committee is calling for proposals for live presentations to be held on July 9-11, 2024. We welcome everyone with an interest in sharing their ideas about curriculum.
This page outlines the conference theme, content strands, session types, and guidelines. We ask all presenters read each section carefully before crafting and submitting a proposal.

PRESENTATIONS AT TEKSCON
PRESENTATION FORMATS
Hands-on presentation
75-minutes long.
Aligned to one or more content strands.
Conducted in a variety of delivery methods including hands-on demonstrations, group work, and interactive applications.
Hands-on presentation double block
Up to 150-minutes long. At least one 15 minute break is required.
Aligned to one or more content strands.
Conducted in a variety of delivery methods including hands-on demonstrations, group work, and interactive applications.
Lecture presentation
75-minutes long.
Aligned to one or more content strands.
Content delivered as a lecture with Q&A throughout or upon conclusion.
Panel Discussion + Q&A
75-minutes long including Q&A.
Aligned to one or more content strands.
Content delivered as a short form lecture and panel discussion, moderated by the applicant(s) with Q&A upon conclusion.
Recommended number of panelists is limited to 3 to 5. Panelists must register to attend.

We accept session proposals that relate to the program topics selected by the Program Committee with input from community members and attendees. The Content Strands are to apply broadly across various contexts, stakeholders, and practices. The Content Strands for TEKSCon 2024:

NON-COMMERCIAL AND COMMERCIAL PRESENTATIONS
TEKSCON aims to produce a conference that ensure the success of Texas educators and their students through excellent professional development opportunities. The conference will feature both non-commercial and commercial presentations that meet this expectation. Conference administrators will limit the number of commercial presentations that sell or promote products and/or services at the conference.

Cancellations after the deadline are subject to fees and may impact presenters' ability to participate at future events.

Participants may register to attend TEKSCon 2024 in January 2024.
PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS
Presenter Contact Information: Presenters must include contact information to communicate decisions regarding the proposal selection process. All submitted contact information is confidential and will not be published.
Abstract Requirements: Proposal abstracts will be used as the public description of the session in the conference program. Abstracts should be 575 words or less and written in English. In-text citations are not required.
Availability: Proposals must be marked with availability to present during 1 of 4 time frames in San Antonio, Texas. Proposals that can not be scheduled in accordance with the program will not be accepted.
SELECTION PROCESS
Proposal selection will be conducted through a community-driven process. The first round of reviews will be conducted by Proposal Reviewers, ESC volunteers that will verify requirements are met. Members of the TEKSCon Program Committee will then review the results and make final decisions based on the available time slots. Presenters will receive a decision on their proposal by May 2024.
REVIEW CRITERIA
Proposals will be evaluated using 5 scoring criteria. A wide variety of proposals and presenters will be accepted, so accepted proposals will fulfill any or all of the below criteria to varying degrees. Strong proposals will address the criteria in the following ways:
Title and Session Abstract
Session Title is catchy and innovative for specific content. Session Abstract concisely describes tasks, activities, and the purpose of the presentation. Session Abstract and Title is relevant and comprehensible with no writing errors.
Session Outline including Pedagogy, Intent and Audience Engagement
Session Outline accurately demonstrates the method and practice being presented. Session Outline accurately reflects selected strands and grade level focus. Session Outline indicates audience will play an active role with hands-on learning and communication.
Presenter Experience and Presenter Profile
The Profile and experience of the presenter suggests a high level of knowledge over their content. Presenter has extensive experience presenting at TEKSCon and/or other well-known conferences.
Connection to the State Standards (TEKS)
Specific state standards or assessments target designated grade levels and/or involves methodologies that reach across several TEKS.
Relation to the TEKS Resource System
TEKS Resource System components, assessment items, and/or resources will play an integral part of the presentation.
ACCEPTANCE REQUIREMENTS
Registration:
Presenters committed to at least one 75-minute presentation will receive complimentary registration.
Speaker Agreements:
In order to participate in TEKSCon 2024, each presenter must review and sign the presentation agreement. Presenters who violate these guidelines at TEKSCon or do not submit their agreement form may be asked to cease activities or leave the conference without refund.
Accessibility and Training:
Accepted presenters will be required to complete an information module to prepare for the conference. This will include logistical information, designing inclusive and accessible presentations, and support.
Code of Conduct:
All participants in the conference, including presenters, are subject to the conference's Code of Conduct.
