EVENT PARTICIPATION POLICY

The mission of TEKSCon is to provide opportunities for educators to grow, learn, and connect with their community to ultimately drive student success. Event producers, sponsors, exhibitors, presenters, and attendees must all work together to make our mission a reality. By participating in this event, each participant agrees to abide our policies. The policy applies to all events including those sponsored by organizations other than TCMPC that are held in conjunction with TCMPC events.

Code of Conduct

TEKSCon helps educators achieve their goals. One way we do this is by serving as a platform for engaging, thought-provoking conversations, and experiences.

However, TEKSCon is not a place for behavior that is inappropriate, off-topic, disruptive, or abusive.

TEKSCon defines inappropriate behavior as any form of verbal or physical abuse, the use of derogatory or discriminatory language, gestures, or actions, any form of harassment, racism, sexism, or any other targeted comments which may cause personal offense to another TEKSCon participant either in-person at the event, via the official mobile app, through social media channels, or the violation of any local, state, or federal laws.

TEKSCon may take action in its discretion to address any individual(s) or group(s) it believes fail to meet the standards set forth in this Code of Conduct, including, without limitation, revoking the violating parties’ credentials without refund.

Please contact TEKSConference@esc13.txed.net if you believe you’ve observed or experienced a violation of this Code of Conduct during the event, and TEKSCon will work to assess the situation and to respond as soon as possible. Please remember that notifying TEKSCon does not constitute or replace a notification to local law enforcement.

All violations of the law should be reported to local law enforcement. For emergencies, immediately dial 9-1-1. For non-emergencies, the San Antonio Police Department is available at (210) 207-7273.

If you’ve had an unwanted sexual experience, The Rape Crisis Center is available to provide support through the confidential, 24-hour hotline Call: (210) 349-7273. 

Online Engagement

We encourage attendees to use virtual settings to form safe and positive relationships with partners an peers in education. The TEKSCon Code of Conduct extends to virtual settings, and violations will be addressed as stated.

All resources provided during the event are the property of presenters, exhibitors, individuals, and TCMPC with all right reserved. Access to resources is limited to registered attendees. It is not permitted to share, broadcast, record, or reuse any content from this event without express permission.

Event Communication and Your Contact Information

We use your email address to communicate with you regarding news and updates. Per the Privacy Policy, your email address is not provided to vendors, partners, or any third party.

We never provide a list of attendee email addresses to any vendor participating in our event. If you visited an exhibitor's booth and provided them with your contact information, they have collected your information with the understanding that you would like them to follow up with you for more information. Vendors may store this information and use it for follow up and cross-promotional marketing for future events.

Please inform us if feel you are experiencing any harassment or inappropriate activity that you feel is directly related to your participation at TEKSCon.

Health and Safety Guidelines

We hold the health and safety of our visitors and partners as top priority when hosting in-person events. Our commitment to creating a safe environment comes first. We will abide by city, county, and state health and safety orders in which the event is taking place, as well as take precautions to protect those in attendance.

By participating in in-person events, attendees and partners acknowledge agree to abide by all guidelines. TEKSCon attendees will not hold anyone else accountable, including TCMPC and event partners should they contract an illness, become injured, or should anything else happen to them during their participation at TEKSCon. Attendees understand that they are responsible for monitoring their own health status and should not attend an event if they are symptomatic in any way or believe they are ill.

TCMPC will communicate with all in-person participants prior to their arrival with specific requirements and recommendations so that you may adequately prepare for the best experience possible.

Waiver of Claim

In the course of events, photographs and video may be taken of you by or others on behalf of TCMPC to capture activities. This media may be used for advertising and promotion without compensation to you, and you release TCMPC of any liability thereto. If you do not authorize TCMPC to use your image, please email teksconference@esc13.txed.net.
