Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Final stretch of project! Individual components done, working on fitting everything together and having the system work as a whole.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Finished multiprocessing methods for the GUI and data collection
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Connect GUI to four cages
Connect hardware to the cage
Redesign the housing for photo interrupter based on the meeting on March 2.
3D print all the modified parts
mass production for cages and glass tubes

3/2/2020 Meeting
Glass tubes good. Asked how to glass tubes are made.
Should include these steps in the final report. Make a video tutorial.
Make a bunch, but also need to think about the future.
Looking for machine shop to cut the tubes for us.
System
Make enough for 4 experiment cages.
Protect electronics from getting wet. Move back.
Pressure calibration for water and alcohol
GUI able to detect ESP32 boards. Problem with reading/writing data.
Some ESP32 boards work and others don't.
Don't want to do wireless
technology moving forward and changing too quickly
Wired connection
thought it'd be easier but it's own set of issues
Look into USB 3.1 connection and power supply.
Mount to BNC connector so don't have dangling wires.
Final presentation to sponsors next week. Monday presentation 10am. Friday all final deliverables given to sponsor.
For the photo interrupter housing, maybe we can make a curtain around it so that the mouse can only approach the valve from the front of the valve.

Presentation feedback:
Include a milestone for Chingting's work or categorize it into another one. Needs a "place" as an accomplishment.
Chingting's slides: focus on top-down approach to presenting. Paint big picture (accurate and repeatable data) first, then go into details. Don't focus as much on analysis, but more on solution.
Be able to summarize each accomplishment in 1-2 sentences. Show a concise understanding and communication.
better structure with milestones (forward vs backwards)
Jiaxin: Consider the audience as fresh and don't assume they remember what our project is about. Give a recap of the project progress before jumping in.
ie. Instead of saying "updates" say "this is our design."
Next week:
Shawn: hardware/structure needs to be completely done
Sara: fully integrate GUI and electrical components with 4 cages
Next 2 weeks:
sponsor should be able to run a full experiment with the 4 cages
create a user manual for experiment
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)

Risks and Areas of Concern
ESP32 boards unreliable and wired connection to ports inconsistent. Need to explore various wiring methods.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
None
Schedule
solve all the electrical issues
mass produce the system
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Spent 919.14, Remaining 1080.86
Progress on Report and Webpage
Adding and changing the report contents based on the feedbacks
