Weekly Progress Reports (see sidebar), the Gantt chart, and this Project Management page should be printed out before meetings with the sponsor and instructor.
All team members should be able to explain all items on the progress report.
Place a "*" at the beginning of the title of the active week Progress Report (see * in sidebar).
Project Objectives
Concisely list and prioritize the project objectives and constraints
High Priority Objectives
Patient and operator safety
Vibration isolation with micron precision
Easy to position 4 DoF system (X and Y axis, roll and pitch tilt)
Lock in any desired position
Second Priority Objectives
Portability/size
Other Constraints and Issues
Cost
WOW Design Solution
Minimize load on the scope to allow for a smaller system with ~2" of travel
Self balancing tilt mechanism
Risk Reduction Strategy
External vibrations as they would skew the imaging process
Simple vibration analysis to determine if an active approach to vibration isolation is necessary.
FEA to illustrate the impacts of a few different parameters in the design on the stress distribution and beam deflection
Impact of tension wires with varying length to further support the cantilever (like a crane)
Impact of different cross sections.
Intermediate Milestones
Identifying meaningful intermediate milestones is a critical for effective project management. Together with your sponsor identify such milestones, and specify specific performance requirements you aim to meet at each milestone.
Finalize first design iteration.
Assess viability of isolation table leg & purchase if viable.
