156B Week 7
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We have designed our extruder and printed it. However, we have a sealing issue at high pressure injection through small tips like 0.5 mm. We have made a design for the heat extruder wings, and need to fabricate these. All that is left is mounting the system and testing.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Finished testing our extruder, and started designing our extruder heat convector wings that will be controlled via motor drivers and a power source. They are made of wood, aluminum block, aluminum sheet, and it will be machined via the machine shop.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Jason: Finish fabricating the convective heaters, and then make sure heaters/fan are controllable through arduino. Test with different heat values and fan speeds on material when complete
Xavier and Roger: work on our high pressure injection issue. try to create a new design or work with Harrison to establish a resolution that will work with thicker tips than 0.5mm
Harrison: work on mounting system and software calibration for the 3D printer (for slowing down the printing process)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sunday, 2/11/2019 in person: When speaking of our sealing issue, our sponsor is concerned there is an issue with the material not being well mixed and he wants us to use a mixer design that also helps push the dragon skin out
Actions taken: We are working on a new design to help push the dragonskin out
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Tuesday, 2/5/2019 in person: Don't have final product made out of plastic, look into teflon materials
Actions taken: We are going to get the extruder system and chamber machined out of teflon

Risks and Areas of Concern
May not be able to have a high printing resolution if we cannot figure out how to fix the sealing issue at high pressure injection at nozzle tips of 0.5mm and smaller
