156B Week 6
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We have a working 3D Printer and injection system (prototype), the focus this week will be mounting
Accomplishments from Previous Week
We 3D printed our extruder design and purchased a new smaller motor. We tested with UV light and found out that effects were negligible compared to heat. We decided to solely use heat to cure the dragon skin. We will create convective heaters using small computer fans. This along with the heating bed should create enough heat that the material will cure.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Jason - continue to build a miniature convective heater using fans and coil. Going to use online tutorials of mini hot air guns, and mimic it
Xin, Roger, Harrison - Work on mounting the injection system onto the 3D printer and attempt first 2D print
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsor comments: Our sponsor asked us to have a working prototype by 2/11/19 and attempt to print a 2D solid object
Actions taken: We will start working on putting everything together this week and attempt to work on
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Instructor comments (1/29 in person): Try not to 3D print everything. Instead of 3D printing the mixer, we can purchase a reamer tool that spins and mixes for us.
Actions taken: We spoke with Tom and he allowed us to use a reamer that we found fit into our system. We are going to test with the tool after we have completed the extruder
