*156B Week 1
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We finished our risk reduction with our material testing with Dragon Skin FX. We’ve come up with 2 different variables (heat and UV light) that we are going to implement into our 3D printer. We are starting with designs for the nozzle, and starting to build our 3D printer from a kit.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Before break, we finished our risk reduction and material testing.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Team meeting with our sponsor to make some big purchases – 3D kit, UV light, oven
Harrison – in charge of our website and updating to make sure we are up to date
Jason – research 3D printer
Roger – continue nozzle design, and take care of progress report
Xavier – purchase printer, uv light, and take care of expenses
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Sponsor comments: should start purchasing equipment and building
Actions taken: meeting with sponsor this week to make some big purchases and use expedited shipping so we can start building our model as soon as possible
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Instructor comments: our design seemed a little too ambitious, should look at different options such as coolant, or different mixing materials
Actions taken: We did a little more research and came with a back up plan if our initial design doesn’t work out. We will have the equipment to make our design more simple and safe.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Some upcoming risks and areas of concern are when we start building the 3D printer because we only have one. We need to look at what parts of the machine are modifiable with still a functioning printer. If we cannot make too many changes with the nozzle (which was our original design), we may have to take another route to lower the risk of a broken 3D printer.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Real 4D printers and their technologies, or other projects in modifying 3D printers to print soft materials
Schedule
Upcoming milestone: purchase 3D printer, build the printer and inspect for modifiable features
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$1100 for 3D printer
$100 for UV Light
$1700 left in budget
Progress on Report and Webpage
Currently have not updated report but will have webpage updated by the end of this week
