A simulation of the swing dynamics using working model 2D. The damping is done using fabric to induce drag on the swing.
Starting from a y-distance of 3 meters, the swing is let go and the plots below show the behavior of the swing that is dampened by air resistance.

Figure 3 shows that adding the spreader bars and modeling the swing in three rigid sections helps in attenuating the amplitude, but the overall effects is small enough to be negligible. Our design of adding springs to either side of the swings also does not do anything to attenuate amplitude.
