Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We are deciding on what steps to take for the final design. We are fully analyzing the full scale test data to determine the pros and cons of fabric and doing comparisons with other designs.
The final design should be decided by Week 7, and all parts ordered
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Spreader bar tests on scale model to determine effect on the twisting.
Modeling spreader bar in WM2D and resulting swing dynamics is not that different.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Decide on designs for two types of cable-to-seat connection. Talk to rigging company to figure out types of ends the cable can be.
"Y" design that the artist wanted
Stiff rod going into the seat
Preliminary analysis of weighted spreader bars and comparison to fabric design (All)
Quantify fabric drag from the full scale test #1 (Engleap, Alex)
Finalize and turn in report draft (Gwen, Nina)
Begin light prototype (Yuji)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
We have met with the artist, Ann Hamilton on Monday.
Both the artist and the sponsor would like no fabric and parallel swings.

Risks and Areas of Concern
We are concerned with having to start over with the design if we completely throw out the fabric.
Many factors that go into the swing are unable to be modeled
Bending of the cable
Vibrations of the cable
