156B Week 4
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Working out imbalance on rotating yoke, redesign of base plate to solve natural frequency issue
Will begin purchasing and machining parts as soon as we receive confirmation for approved subassemblies
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Modal analysis of base plate design, in process of adjusting in response to low first mode frequency
Confirmed reliability of roller for expected contact stress
Sourced multiple sets of springs to be used for various ranges of force applied
Calculated for motor capabilities and speed for various loads
Select pulley timing belt for new pulley base plate design
Sourced load cell (ATA purchased)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Design new base plate with pulley, source timing belt (Matthiew)
Design temporary spring clamp, purchase test bed materials and assemble test bed (Bryant)
Check lateral natural frequency of spring sets, machine guide (Ian)
Adjust design to add linear bearing below spring assembly, calculate for radial load due to yoke imbalance (Josiah)

Yoke imbalance radial load
Calculating theoretical load and currently compensating for it in design
Check if motor can output the necessary torque and speed
Calculations done, design adjustments underway to compensate
Spring buckling and lateral natural frequency
Buckling issue solved, currently calculating lateral natural frequency
