Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Mechanical design has been completed
Probe was tested in field (total of 11 readings taken)
Epoxy holding sensor together melted under high temperature
High temp epoxy will be used as a replacement
Calibration constants gathered, SDI-12 interface has arrived
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Fabrication and assembly have been completed
Calibrations constants have been gathered
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Have sensor ready for demonstration:
New epoxy applied (Armando)
Calibration constants programmed into sensor (Tim)
Rubber gasket to prevent heat sink (Evan)
Finish manual for probe use (Paulee)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsor asked us to test the probe eleven more times to ensure the probe is accurate (3/3/16)
On 3/5/16, we tested our final design of the probe at the compost facility
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Consider using an epoxy to fill in the void between the sensor and sensor clamp
We will use a high temp epoxy to glue the sensor together but will resort to rubber padding to create isolation of the sensor to aluminum clamp
The aluminum clamp, we fear, acted as a heat sink will in the pile, concentrating heat at the sensor
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
None received
Risks and Areas of Concern
Software for inputting calibration constants was not included with delivery; we have to figure out how to interface with sensor (we have hardware)
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Understanding the circuitry would aid in better design;
We aren't sure if the material used to cover the sensor could be optimized (replace plastic)
Schedule
Upcoming milestone is demonstrating the product in action
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$3990.97 Remaining
$2010.03 Spent
Plan on purchasing epoxy and rubber padding
Progress on Report and Webpage
Report and webpage comments will be picked up tomorrow
Comments will be analyzed; appropriate action will then taken to incorporate feedback and finalize both items
